About Us

The Epicentre, Ambleside
Welcome to The Epicentre. Based in Ambleside in the heart of the English Lake District you will find our store on Compston Road, on the site of the former Epicure Cafe.
Our building has been lovingly restored and extended by local craftsmen, winning us both the Leslie Johnston Trophy for Craftsmanship and the North West regional winner for building restoration in England.
Our staff at The Epicentre all have a passion for the outdoors, we can regularly be found wandering the fells, hanging from rocks, swinging axes into ice, floating on lakes, tearing down single-track, running up and over and round and about and generally making the most of what we have on offer in our back garden, at home in the Lake District.
We have been on trips and expeditions that have taken us around the world and look forward to using our experience to help kit you out for adventure, whatever the location, whatever the weather. Our store will offer you a relaxed environment, with no pressure to buy and as much help as you need.
